(PITTSFIELD, MA) – The Beacon Cinema will be rolling out the red carpet at Discover Pittsfield’s September 21st Third Thursday event. The Cinema management and staff will welcome their new Mascot Rodeo. Rodeo is the Beacons new mascot  donkey featured in their recent advertising campaign promoting the addition of the new large electronic reclining seats renovation. He is a therapy equine. Rodeo will be available for photos opportunities and autographs (depending on his mood). Tours of the new seating will be offered by the Beacon staff between 5 and 7PM. Rodeo comes to the Beacon from Berkshire HorseWorks, Inc.  a not for profit organization, providing Equine Therapy for individuals and groups. Founded in late summer 2013 by Hayley Sumner, a NY/CA transplant and cancer survivor. Berkshire Horseworks is located in Richmond, MA. More information can be found at berkshirehorseworks.org About The Beacon Cinema The Beacon Cinema is an independent movie theater first opened to the public November 2009. The realization of this project came from a multi million dollar renovation of the Kinnell-Kresge building by developer Richard Stanley. The high tech- all digital cinema offers first-run films, state of the art seating and beer and wine. Web site: thebeaconcinema.com

Less Expensive

Q:  I love that the Beacon Cinema is less expensive than the Regal and I’m concerned that with the new seating, prices will increase. A:  We understand completely,…We are NOT RAISING PRICES AT THE BEACON! We’ll have better seating, assigned seating, more space and comfort all for less than our competitor.

Mobility

Q:  I am an older woman and when I sit in the seats at the Regal I find it hard to recline and to even get up. Why can’t you keep the same seats? A:  Our seats are very different from those at the Regal. Our seats are POWER recliners…a little button within the seat electronically reclines and rights the seat. It will be very easy for you to recline and get in and out.

Too Comfy

Q:  I’m concerned that with the big recliners I’ll fall asleep. A:  We’re installing these seats for your comfort and hope the movie of your choice doesn’t put you to sleep. Unlike other seats being used in our industry ours PARTIALLY RECLINE. Then again, we always have fresh coffee available too.

Assigned Seating

Q: We are worried about coming to the movies with lots of kids and not being able to sit together. How will it work with the new assigned seating? A: Actually it will be much easier for you and your group to sit together with assigned seating. Here are two options: Just go online to www.thebeaconcinema.com , simply click on the show time of the movie of your choice, choose the seats for your group and you will be taken to our checkout. Or come to the Beacon and purchase tickets in advance. You’re guaranteed the seats you choose!
